Free management training offered through 'Sharing the Flame'
Small business employees are being offered free training courses as part of an initiative to help prepare the local economy for the 2012 Games.
The Sharing the Flame initiative is a Learning and Skills Council and European Social Fund project that aims to raise awareness of the business opportunities associated with the games in Weymouth and enhance business capability and a legacy of expertise amongst local SMEs.
Two management courses are scheduled to take place in February with Paragon Skills for Industry, in association with Bournemouth University.
The ‘Managing Improvement’ and ‘Influencing Others at Work’ courses are available to individuals aged 19 or above employed in a business located in the South West with up to 250 employees.
Managing Improvement is a two day course aimed at developing knowledge and understanding of managing quality and includes a course assignment that forms part of the ILM Level 5 Certificate in Management.
Influencing Others at Work is a one day course including topics such as networking, persuasion techniques and resolving conflicting objectives.
Eligible participants can attend one of the courses completely free of charge. Further Sharing the Flame courses can attend be attended at a subsidised cost.
Both management courses will run at Paragon’s head office in Lynch Lane, Weymouth and at the Bournemouth Technology Centre, Boscombe.
Managing Improvement is available on the 14th and 15th February in Boscombe and on the 13th and 14th March in Weymouth.
Influencing Others is available on 28th February in Boscombe and the 26th March in Weymouth.
